A most enjoyable evening, with great performances by all the cast. The evening bounded along at a cracking pace with much laughter and interspersed with ultimate pre-golden oldies. Mike Button as Ali Baba holding the show together. I particularly enjoyed the double acts. Timbad played by Simon Taylor full of good humour and enthusiasm and Cascara the Dame, played by Dave Montgomery with a fabulous frock for every occasion. Later, making full use of a powerful voice, the Dame paired with Rhum Baba, played by Lesley Dawson, who was great in a comedy role. Good harmonies from Helen Edwards and Rebecca Gotts. Morgana and Avarice, Isobel Munday and Trish Kreft played the two opposites, one sugar and spice and all things nice, and the other evil with cackling laughter and flowing cloak. The other evil character was Al Raschid, played by Dave Watson, who with unerring accuracy was able to spit in the eye of his loyal henchman Achmed played by Glyn Bailey. Good to see the return of Leon Kreft playing Kassim Baba. Kymm Loveday and Maggie Edwards as Hanki Panki and Jiggeri Pokeri were brilliant as a couple of stand up comics. I liked their fresh approach to the raffle. So it’s thanks to Neil Browne the Director the cast and all of the production team. Next time it’s “ How the other Half loves” by Alan Ayckbourn on 15th- 17th May.
