This rather offbeat comedy is set in London in the flat of a
young artist. He is trying to impress his girlfriend's father who he is meeting
for the first time and a rich German art collector who is coming to look at his work
He decides to "borrow" some of his neighbour's
furniture in the hope of making a good impression. The problems begin when a fuse blows and the lights go out. This
means that most of the play is set in darkness. To deal with this, Thorpe
Players used an ingenius lighting plot. When is was dark the stage was lit so
that the audience could see but the actors pretended that they couldn't. When it
was light the stage was in darkness (nearly).
Excellent performances from Simon Taylor, Rebecca Gotts, Sarah
Rathbone and Isobel Munday led to a riotous evening of lies and revelations.
