The Thorpe Players production of The Reluctant Debutante

A delightful play showing how life might have been for an upper crust couple with a teenage daughter a little over fifty years ago. This was the time when young girls were still being presented at court. There were some great performances and with voice projection improving as the cast settled into their roles.

Reluctant Debutante  It was a treat to see the return of Trish Kreft obviously enjoying her part and complete with the Celia Johnson accent. The dialogue was good, full of humour and put over well by the parents played by Jim Green and Lesley Dawson as the scheming mother.

Neil Browne and Simon Taylor put in their usual sound performances, as did Rebecca Gotts showing great tact and restraint when dealing with her parents.

The wardrobe team are to be congratulated, everyone looked the part, dresses were good and the jewellery sparkled. Simon Taylor in full Regimentals was impressive.

Great care must have gone into constructing the set that was both tasteful and convincing.

A very enjoyable evening, thanks to the cast and to the whole of the Production Crew. Christmas will soon be here and then end of January beginning of February we can look forward to Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.
